The Los Angeles Lakers are taking on the Houston Rockets on Wednesday in the teams' first matchup of the 2023-24 season. The first Lakers/Rockets matchup also means the first LeBron James/Dillon Brooks matchup, and that is a recipe for a lot of fun.

Brooks famously trash talked LeBron all of last season, and especially ahead of and during the Lakers' playoff matchup against the Memphis Grizzlies.

Brooks called James' "old," and said he wouldn't respect him until he dropped 40 on him. Then, Brooks and the Grizzlies would go on to lose to the No. 7 seeded Lakers in six games.

The Grizzlies elected not to re-sign Brooks this offseason, and he ended up going to Houston to sign with the Rockets.

Brooks may be in a new place, but he's still the same person he was last year.

Ahead of the first Brooks/LeBron matchup of the year, Brooks made it clear what his plan was on Wednesday.

"Ready to lock him up."

He did admit that LeBron has been shooting well, but he said his goal is to lock him up and get him tired so he doesn't have as much energy in the fourth quarter.

It should be another fun matchup and another exciting saga in the Brooks-LeBron drama.

The Lakers are entering the matchup withtons of injuries (which you can read about here), so expect LeBron to have to carry the load yet again.
