Lakers News: ESPN Analyst Provides Hot, Negative Take About LA’s Free Agency
After the first few days of NBA free agency, many people around the league believe that the Los Angeles Lakers were clear winners. They upgraded their roster while also keeping the main core of players from last seasons together. The team found ways to get talented guys on value contracts while addressing some needs at the same time. However, not everyone believes that the Lakers actually made moves that give them a chance to win next season.
ESPN analyst Tim Bontemps doesn't believe that the moves the Lakers made really are an upgrade. See below for his entire line of comments on the matter.
To be fair, Bontemps has been critical of the Lakers since LeBron James joined the team. He is a known "Laker hater" among the fans but this take seems a little silly.
The Lakers made moves to give themselves a better chance of winning next season. They upgraded spots on the roster by bringing in guys like Taurean Price and Gabe Vincent to replace Troy Brown Jr. and Dennis Schroder. They brought in young talents such as Cam Reddish and Jaxson Hayes, who are both high upside targets for them.
LA also was able to retain Rui Hachimura, Austin Reaves and D'Angelo Russell on all pretty decent deals for the franchise.
This team just went to the Western Conference Finals with just a few months of playing together so now they get a full offseason and training camp to mesh together. LA vastly improved their roster and it now gives them a better chance to going all the way next season. Plus James seems to approve of the moves made and that is really what matters if we are being honest.
Now, it's fair to criticize the moves because sometimes things just don't work out. But to say that the team didn't get better is foolish.
Haters gonna hate. It's as simple as that.
