Lakers News: First Look At Christian Wood In LA Practice Gear
When the Los Angeles Lakers signed center Christian Wood a few weeks ago, it was met with a ton of positive reactions. LA was filling their need for another big man, and they got a guy who could help space the floor as well.
Additionally, getting him for the minimum is a steal considering the level of talent that Wood has. LA was patient through the summer in the hope of landing someone like Wood to fill their empty big-man spot.
Now that they have him, they couldn’t be more excited. He should be able to come in and make a difference for this team immediately.
Recently, we got to see the first look of Wood wearing the purple and gold practice gear. It looks right on him, and it’s exciting that the season is just around the corner. You can check him out below.
While his defense may still be a work in progress, Wood can score the basketball. He averaged 16.6 points a game last season while shooting 37.6 percent from beyond the three-point line.
His ability to put the ball in the basket should help the Lakers whenever he is on the floor because it will force opposing defenses to have to know where he is. This should open things up for other guys like LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
Wood is still only 27 years old, so there is room to grow. He should benefit from having two All-Star teammates as well, especially with James getting him good looks on offense.
It should be a really fun season for the Lakers, and Wood is going to play a crucial role. He may even crack the starting lineup at some point, but will likely come off the bench first.
The new NBA season is just around the corner, and Wood seems ready for it to start, just like the rest of us.
