Lakers News: LA Nabs Rave Review For Sneaky-Great Signing

He could be the steal of the offseason for LA...
In this story:

When the news dropped that the Lakers had signed veteran forward Taurean Prince, it was seen as a great get for LA. Many people wondered what exactly the contract terms were like however because naturally it seemed appropriate to assume that the team got him using their mid-level exception. So when it came out that the Lakers had snagged Prince for just $4.5 million, it was seen as a major win.

Prince is exactly the type of player that the Lakers had been missing. He is a lengthy wing that can shoot a high percentage from three-point land and gives the team an above average defender. The NBA staff at Bleacher Report gave this signing a letter grade of "A" and I agree completely with that.

"Taurean is exactly the kind of player the Los Angeles Lakers should've been targeting this summer. Getting him for the easily manageable bi-annual exception feels like a huge win. All he has to do on this team is defend and hit threes, and the 29-year-old role player averaged 9.1 points and shot 38.1 percent from deep in 2022-23."

Per Bleacher Report

He should be able to fit right in with this Lakers team alongside LeBron James. Three-and-D wings thrive with James and Prince should be the next in line. If he is able to have the type of season that many believe he will with the Lakers, he should be able to cash in next year when he enters free agency once again.

The Lakers now have a Prince and a King on the roster so the royalty is set. This was a home run signing in every sense of the words and may end up being the steal of the offseason if Prince plays up to par.
