When any athlete breaks a record that many didn’t believe would ever be broken, it deserves to be praised time and time again. That’s exactly what is happening with Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James after he became the NBA’s All-Time Scoring Leader this past season, passing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

James has been on the top of the NBA world since his arrival back in 2003 and it has now all culminated with him being recognized as the top scorer in league history. It was a long-time coming for James and was a major goal of his once he realized it was possible.

At this year’s edition of the ESPYs, James received the award for Best Record-Breaking Performance. He was joined by his entire family on stage and surely it was a special moment for the legend. James knows to not take these moments for granted and he made sure to use his time to the fullest extent.

During the acceptance speech, James announced that he would indeed be returning to the court this season after much speculation about a possible retirement. It was welcome news for basketball fans as a whole because despite his advanced age, James is still the biggest show in the NBA.

And in a classic James moment, he made sure that everyone remembered exactly who he is as he finished his speech.

James is known for the theatrics but he always makes sure to dazzle the audience. He is a showman and always has been which has helped him become the player he is today. The King knows the audience that he brings in and juices it to the max, each and every time.

With James returning next season, the Lakers should be in good shape to find success again. They brought back most of their core that just went to the Western Conference Finals and they upgraded around the edges. LA should be one of the favorites out West, led by James himself as he starts the epic journey of his 21st NBA season
