'My Heart Dropped!' Magic Coach Jamahl Mosley Gives Jonathan Isaac Injury Update
ORLANDO - The Orlando Magic were concerned after Jonathan Isaac left Sunday night's game against the Atlanta Hawks with a knee injury.
However, initial X-rays for Isaac were negative, allowing those on the team to breathe a sigh of relief.
“JI is okay,” Jamahl Mosley said via Orlando Sentinel reporter Jason Beede. “My heart dropped when I saw it happen. He’s such a tough, resilient kid. He’s in the back, saw him, everybody went to go talk to him and make sure he was okay.”
Isaac suffered a knee strain after playing just two minutes in Sunday's loss, but his timeline to return isn't known at this time. Given the Magic's extreme caution with Isaac, there's a chance he may be out for a bit to ensure that he will be available for a potential playoff run.
Isaac's coach wasn't the only one who expressed concern over his injury. Franz Wagner also spoke about Isaac's injury following the loss.
“You never want to see that happen, especially JI — knowing how hard he’s fought back multiple times,” Wagner said via Beede. “Hopefully everything is going to be alright. We definitely need him.”
Magic Struggle Without Banchero, Fall vs. Hawks
Isaac definitely changes the team's defense when he's out on the court and he can give a number of players fits, making his impact extremely valuable in a playoff series.
The Magic return home tomorrow night to face the Brooklyn Nets. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET from the Kia Center.
