The Orlando Magic is making some changes to the front office.

To kick off the moves, John Hammond will step into the role of senior advisor to the president of basketball operations. He spent the past six seasons as the general manager for the Magic.

“We are excited for John’s well-deserved next chapter,” said Weltman in a press release. “He has, and will continue to be, an invaluable resource. His experience has helped set the table for the Magic’s future and we look forward to continuing to lean on him in regard to everything from player evaluation to player development."

Hammond has plenty of NBA experience across his NBA career, including a championship with the Detroit Magic. He also made moves that included drafting Giannis Antetokounmpo and trading for Khris Middleton, laying the groundworks for the Milwaukee Bucks 2021 championship team.

"He helped build a great team in Milwaukee and won a championship in Detroit," Weltman said about Hammond. "He has, and will continue to be, a great friend, mentor and confidant to the Magic family."

With the move of Hammond to his new role, Anthony Parker was promoted to be the new general manager of the Magic. After retiring from his basketball playing days, Parker joined the Magic as a scout in 2012. He worked his way up to joining the Lakeland Magic as a general manager in 2017. He was moved to the assistant general manager role in 2021.

Pete D'Allessandro is the new executive vice president of basketball operations for the team. He began his career in basketball operations in 2004, when he was hired on to the Golden State Warriors. He has since spent time working with the Denver Nuggets and Sacramento Kings. He joined the Magic in 2017 in an assistant manager role.

“We are equally excited for Anthony and Pete in their well-deserved promotions. Anthony brings a unique perspective to our group as a former player and it has been great to watch his progression from player to scout to G League GM to the Magic’s assistant general manager. Anthony is the ultimate team player and we look forward to his continued leadership, experience and energy," Weltman said.
