Indiana Pacers' Rick Carlisle Praises Orlando Magic Coach Jamahl Mosley: 'So Happy For His Success!'

In just his third season with the Orlando Magic, Jamahl Mosley is turning some heads with his young team. But Indiana Pacers coach Rick Carlisle claims that he expected this from the very start.
In this story:

The Orlando Magic has started this season 8-5, to many people's surprise. This early success is due in no small part to the great coaching of Jamahl Mosley

This impressive start was reinforced by the Magic's impressive win on the road against Tyrese Haliburton and the red-hot Indiana Pacers on Sunday night. This success that the Magic has found was expected by Pacers' coach Rick Carlisle, and he spoke more on it in a pre-game interview.

"None of this surprises me at all," Carlisle said. "And I'm really just so happy for his success. I wish I was his agent because his contract is going to be coming up soon. I saw him working with [the] USA Basketball Select Team. He was coaching the team that kicked the main team's a** the first day I was there for that. He's a high-impact coach. This is nothing I didn't expect."

Carlisle knew about Mosley's coaching philosophy from their time together with the Dallas Mavericks. Mosley's philosophy is different from many other coaches, as he was not focused at all on making any big moves this offseason. He wanted to focus on keeping his core group of guys and letting them grow together, and that is one of the reasons why the Magic wanted to hire him in the first place.

"I talked to many teams about him for years and he was a guy that a lot of organizations passed on - the same way they passed on Darvin Ham and many others. He's doing great," Carlisle said.
