Magic 'Priority' Free Agency Target: Heat SG Max Strus?

Miami Heat shooting guard Max Strus posted 11.5 points on 41/35/87.6 shooting splits this season.

There may not be a hotter commodity in today's NBA than the ability to shoot the basketball.

While switchability on defense is always a plus, and every front is on the hunt to find its own Nikola Jokic and Giannis Antetokounmpo, the value of finding a consistent three-point threat is a dime a dozen.

And the Orlando Magic is officially part of the search to find free agency value from beyond the arc.

"Adding shooters is mission critical for the Orlando Magic when looking at their primary creator-types," Bleacher Report writes. "Paolo Banchero, Anthony Black and Markelle Fultz all have limitations on their jumpers, and last season's offense ranked 26th in half-court efficiency as well as bottom seven in both three-point accuracy and volume."

A target that has been talked about in recent weeks is Miami Heat guard Max Strus.

Strus, an undrafted free agent out of DePaul, recently wrapped up a career-year for the Heat last season. The 27-year-old posted career-highs in points (11.0), rebounds (3.2) and assists (2.1), while shooting 35 percent from three on seven attempts per game.

"Don't let Max Strus' slumping outside clip—35 percent in the regular season, 31.9 percent in the playoffs—fool you," Bleacher Report writes. "He bends defenses sprinting off screens and doesn't need a ton of room, time or balance to let 'er rip.

"Orlando, by comparison, has more than enough cap space ($23-plus million) to give Strus a demonstrative raise without actually breaking its bank."

With the three-point shooting a priority this season, Orlando could be willing to spend a pretty penny on Strus' services.
