Orlando Magic PG Cole Anthony Happy After Opening Night Success, But ...
The Orlando Magic's first game of the regular season went better than the team could have hoped, as it ended in a 30-point win against the new-look Houston Rockets.
The Magic had six players score in double figures, with three of them in the starters, and three of them coming off the bench. But perhaps the most impressive performance of the game was point guard Cole Anthony being the leading scorer for the Magic while coming off the bench.
Anthony finished with 20 points and eight rebounds in only 24 minutes of play. But despite the Magic's great performance, the team should not get comfortable, as this is only the first game of the season. Anthony spoke about this in his postgame conference.
"We'll get back to work tomorrow because we didn't come here to win one game," Anthony said. "We didn't put all this work and it just went one game we want to keep doing we don't want to be used to this."
The beginning of the season is going to be important for the Magic, as the beginning of the team's season did not pan out well last year. The team was 5-20 through its first 25 games last season, and the Magic will look to avoid that rough start this season.
The Magic will be on the road for its next three games, and they will be play a few of the top teams in the Western Conference in the Los Angeles Clippers and Lakers. But before that, on Friday, will be the team's first game of its road trip against the Portland Trail Blazers. Tipoff is scheduled for 10 p.m. from the Moda Center.
