Mavs Free Agency LISTEN: Kyrie Re-Sign Reactions; Jarrett Allen Trade Rumor

On the latest episode of the Mavs Step Back Podcast, we react to the Dallas Mavericks re-signing Kyrie Irving and discuss several starting center trade options, including Cleveland Cavaliers big man Jarrett Allen.
In this story:

With NBA free agency in full swing, the Dallas Mavericks have already made a series of moves, including re-signing star point guard Kyrie Irving, who was the team's top priority heading into the offseason, and signing Brooklyn Nets shooting guard Seth Curry. Dallas also re-signed Dwight Powell and signed former top-five draft pick Dante Exum as well.

Despite adding two promising rookies in Dereck Lively II and OMax Prosper during the NBA Draft a few weeks ago, the Mavs are still in search of a veteran staring center and wing depth through more free-agency signings or potential trades.

On this episode of the Mavs Step Back Podcast, we give our personal takes on Irving's new contract with the Mavs, which is for three years and a total of $126 million. From there, we discuss how adding Curry back into the mix will be a big help for the Mavs next season despite his limitations on the defensive end of the court.

The signing of Curry also likely spells the end of the Tim Hardaway Jr. era in Dallas, and being that the Mavs are still hoping to add an experienced, starting-caliber big man, we discuss several trade options that could be on the table with Hardaway being the main piece going out. Given the Cleveland Cavaliers' reported interest in Hardaway earlier this year, we believe a trade for former Texas Longhorn Jarrett Allen could be the Mavs' best bet at adding a veteran center that moves the needle.

As always, thanks for listening, and be sure to stay tuned to DallasBasketball.com for more Mavs free agency and trade coverage coming later today and throughout the rest of this week.
