Dallas Mavs’ Luka Doncic Will Play vs. Victor Wembanyama's San Antonio Spurs; How to Watch

The Dallas Mavericks have the national spotlight against the San Antonio Spurs on ESPN tonight, but there are more ways than one to watch the highly-anticipated season opener.

At long last, the NBA's 2023-24 season is underway, and the Dallas Mavericks will get things started on Wednesday night against their longtime rival San Antonio Spurs.

This matchup has been highly anticipated by both team's fan bases, but also by basketball fans in general, as it will be No. 1 overall pick Victor Wembanyama's official NBA debut. Wembanyama has been the most hyped rookie prospect the league has seen since LeBron James back in 2003, so everyone is excited to see what the 7-3 phenom can do.

Meanwhile, the Mavs have Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving starting their first full season together with a modified supporting cast around them. Doncic, after being listed as questionable heading into Wednesday, was cleared to play a little more than an hour before tip off.

Doncic and Irving will surely get theirs, but the real intrigue will be seeing what Dallas is able to get out of newcomers Grant Williams, Dereck Lively II, Derrick Jones Jr., Seth Curry and others.

After missing the playoffs last year for the first time since Doncic's rookie season in 2019, the Mavs are confident that they can turn things around and get back to the level that 2022 Western Conference Finals team was at. Only time will tell if they'll be able to pull off such a feat, but they appear to have the puzzle pieces to do it. Now, it's just about head coach Jason Kidd making those pieces fit.

The Mavs and Spurs have the national spotlight tonight on ESPN, and the game will tip off at 8:30 p.m. CT.
