Latest Mavs Trade Rumors: Kyle Kuzma, Andrew Wiggins, Dorian Finney-Smith
With the NBA trade deadline now less than a week away, the Dallas Mavericks continue to be linked to several versatile forwards who could upgrade their roster. Luka Doncic is having an MVP-caliber season, but at 26-22, the Mavs haven't been good enough to place him at the top of the MVP list.
According to Yahoo! Sports' Jake Fischer, the Mavs and the Sacramento Kings are still the two man teams connected to Washington Wizards' Kyle Kuzma. He also mentions Dallas connections to Portland Trail Blazers' Jerami Grant (to an extent), Brooklyn Nets' Dorian Finney-Smith and Golden State Warriors' Andrew Wiggins.
"Dallas and Sacramento remain the two teams connected by league figures to Washington forward Kyle Kuzma. The Mavericks appear to be pursuing a much wider range of players than the Kings. Sacramento and Dallas both registered interest in Siakam and Grant, league sources told Yahoo Sports," Fischer wrote.
"But aside from the Kuzma connection — the Kings have pursued Kuzma dating back to his Lakers days — Sacramento isn’t currently known to be pursuing other roster upgrades that would require parting with Harrison Barnes, sources said, and he could very well stick in Sacramento beyond the deadline. The Mavericks, meanwhile, continue to be connected to other forwards such as Washington, Dorian Finney-Smith and Andrew Wiggins."
NBA Insiders Reveal Wizards’ Kyle Kuzma Trade Price Mavs Can Afford
Any of those players would serve as a significant frontcourt upgrade for the Mavs. Price-wise, though, trading for Wiggins might allow Dallas to get more bang for its buck, as the 10-year veteran is in the first year of a four-year, $109 million contract and is only shooting 31.3 percent from deep this season. If the Warriors are simply looking to get off of Wiggins' long-term money, a straight-up trade for Tim Hardaway Jr. and Richaun Holmes – two players who will be on expiring deals next season – could work out for both teams.
