Former Pelicans Forward Signs With Raptors
New Orleans, LA - On Monday, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported that former New Orleans Pelican Garrett Temple is signing with the Toronto Raptors. The deal is for one-year, $3.2 million. Temple played the last two seasons with the New Orleans Pelicans.
This season marks Temple's 14th year in the NBA after being undrafted from LSU in 2009. In Temple's last two seasons with New Orleans, he's appeared in 84 games, averaging 15 minutes and 4.3 points per contest. The Pelicans waived him on July 5, making him an unrestricted free agent.
Temple has averaged 6.2 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per contest for his career. He is a career 34.5% shooter from three-point range in his 716 NBA game appearances.
In an NBA survey a few seasons ago, Temple was voted as the third-likeliest player in the league to be a good head coach one day. Temple is set to join his 12th NBA team, as his veteran leadership skills are highly sought after by teams in the league. In the upcoming season, he will be taking his talents across the border to Toronto.
