NBA Free Agency: Grizzlies' Dillon Brooks to Spurs?

The San Antonio Spurs could look to add Memphis Grizzlies disgruntled forward Dillon Brooks in free agency.

Memphis Grizzlies forward Dillon Brooks is looking for a new NBA home this offseason.

The sixth-year veteran will not return to the Grizzlies after it was revealed in a report from The Athletic that Brooks would not be brought back "under any circumstances."

"After his tumultuous end to the season, Brooks was told about the Grizzlies’ decision to move on in exit meetings with team officials in recent days, those sources said. Memphis and Brooks discussed in exit meetings that it’s best for both sides to have a fresh start, sources added," The Athletic said.

With Brooks looking for a fresh start, there may not be a better place for him to join the San Antonio Spurs.

The Spurs provide an environment that won't be rummaged with big market media trying to ignite the feud that's been brewing between him and LeBron James and perhaps a little Gregg Popovich magic could push his career back on the right path.

Besides, the Spurs could use a player like Brooks. As a defense-first player, Brooks could help shape San Antonio's defensive identity and be an on-court leader in that department.

He also holds his own on the offensive side of the ball. During his six seasons with the Grizzlies, he has averaged 14.5 points per game while shooting 34.5 percent from distance.

While Brooks may look for a destination where he is more likely to contend, an opportunity with the Spurs could be a huge benefit towards his career ... and a chance for San Antonio to add some experience in free agency.
