Spurs vs. Kings: 3 Best Bets

The San Antonio Spurs pick up where they left off and travel to California to take on the Sacramento Kings.

After a restful All-Star break for the San Antonio Spurs, the Rodeo Road Trip resumes with a trip to take on the Sacramento Kings. The Spurs have only played the Kings once this season and lost 129-120.

The Kings, despite their eighth-seed ranking, did not have a representative in the All-Star Game. Despite that, Domantas Sabonis (baring illness) and De'Aaron Fox will give the Spurs fits on the defensive side of the ball, although Sabonis's size will prevent him from stopping Victor Wembanyama.

Charles Bassey remains out for the Spurs, and Dominick Barlow is in Austin with the G-League squad. Sabonis is doubtful for the Kings, but aside from that, both teams have short injury reports.

Our picks

Safe pick: Devin Vassell OVER 20.5 points (-133)

Devin Vassell missed the earlier game against the Kings this season, so Sacramento is not familiar with the breakout year he's been having. In the last five games before the break, Vassell averaged 20.5 points and shot 40 percent from deep, although those numbers were brought down by an inefficient 11-point night in Dallas, so expect him to return to normal tonight.

Team pick: OVER 240.5 total points (-118)

These two teams combined for 249 points in their earlier matchup, and both teams are below average in terms of defensive rating. Expect a high-scoring affair from both sides, defense will not be much of a factor outside of Fox and Wembanyama.

Power Rankings: Spurs at Bottom After All-Star Break?

Parlay pick: Victor Wembanyama OVER 21.5 points, OVER 9.5 rebounds, OVER 4.5 assists, OVER 4.5 steals + blocks (+950)

It should be a big night for Victor. He dropped 27 points against the Kings in the last matchup, and with an extended rest period and getting bounced in the first round of the Rising Stars Challenge, expect Wembanyama to do a little bit of everything, although this pick is far from a lock.
