Spurs, Unlike Dallas Cowboys, Have 'No BS'

The San Antonio Spurs have built a culture, and it's very different from America's Team in the NFL, the Dallas Cowboys.

SAN ANTONIO - There is a dichotomy in San Antonio amongst the locals.

On one hand they absolutely love the no nonsense, no BS, zero limelight San Antonio Spurs as one might surmise. On the other hand they really, really love the Dallas Cowboys. America's football team is all hat and no cattle.

Marketing, twitter trends and drama are the lifeblood of the Jones family that values Q-rating arguably more than winning. They are the Kardashian family with a football team. Great sex, horrible marriage. Yet, the same San Antonians that are proud of the "Spurs Way" will name a kid after Dak Prescott if Dallas ever wins the Super Bowl. Some may already have anyway.

The Spurs are family. It's as if they are a college team. The Spurs are blue collar. Absolutely no nonsense.

Air Force veteran Gregg Popovich and chill to the max island guy Tim Duncan brought an attitude to this "small" market, off the grid, near the Mexican border basketball club. All they cared about was winning and nothing else.

Last season's lawsuit filed by a team psychologist against young guard Josh Primo was stunning. The club handled it by promptly dumping Primo once the story went public and now it's as if the kid never existed. The Spurs glorious run under Duncan saw five River Walk championship parades. The Spurs were also the least heralded, least respected, least marketed dynasty in NBA history ... and they wouldn't have had it any other way. They make no time for buffoonery and in the rare instance that they have drama they kill it on the spot.

No BS. Ever.
