LOOK: Spurs Host Legendary Dinner with Victor Wembanyama
The arrival of Victor Wembanyama to the San Antonio Spurs has brought out legendary faces of both the franchise and the sport itself.
Wembanyama had a group dinner with franchise royalty on Friday, and shared a picture on social media that Spurs fans will likely hold on to for years to come. While towering over Sean Elliott, David Robinson, Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili in a group photo, Wembanyama said on Twitter that he "couldn't ask for better role models."
"Our history is unbelievable," Spurs CEO R.C. Buford said when the Spurs introduced Wembanyama and second-round pick Sidy Cissoko at the San Antonio River Walk on Saturday. "Last night, we had a dinner with Tim, David, Sean, Manu and Wemby. That type of opportunity to come together, the reason why it happens is because all you all welcomed them into your homes, and they make San Antonio their homes."
When someone like Duncan - who is known to keep to himself and stay away from the cameras - makes time to come to a dinner with the No. 1 pick, you know it's a big deal.
It clearly had an impact on Wembanyama.
"In a couple of hours, I learned more about the NBA than I had in my entire life," Wembanyama said. "They're such kind people, and generous because they want to help me improve."
