San Antonio Spurs' Victor Wembanyama is 'Match Made In Heaven' With Rest of Frontcourt

Spurs center Zach Collins thinks that Wemby can integrate right into the team's big man room and make them instantly better.

The San Antonio Spurs knew exactly what they were getting when they drafted Victor Wembanyama with the first overall pick of this past year's draft. They were getting a player whose ceiling may not even exist, and who can have an impact the second he steps on an NBA court.

While Wembanyama's talent is unlike anything we have ever seen, he has also been a very good team player so far in the games that he has played. Not only can Wemby make all his teammates look better, but everyone else around him will also be looking to create more opportunities for him as well.

San Antonio Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama's ability to work well with teammates could be a big factor this season

Namely, Zach Collins, who, according to head coach Gregg Popovich, will start at the center position this season. Wembanyama will reportedly be spending most of his time at the power forward spot, so he and Collins will need to learn to coexist in the same frontcourt. Collins spoke more about playing with Wemby and how they can work with each other in an interview on Tuesday.

"We have to be able to complement each other on the court," Collins said. "The way he can finish inside, once he gets under the rim and keeps the ball high, no one is going to be able to touch him or block the shot. Hopefully I can continue to make shots, and that's going to open up everything for him, and vice versa. I think it could be a match made in heaven if we keep working at it."

Collins and Wembanyama will have another chance to prove that they can coexist as they and the rest of the Spurs continue preseason play as they face the Houston Rockets for the second straight game. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
