Spurs Fiesta 5: San Antonio Grabs Final Win of Season

Inside The Spurs identifies five of the biggest NBA storylines in addition to relevant San Antonio Spurs news and analysis.

In this story:

1. SPURS FINISH SEASON WITH WIN VS. MAVERICKS

"In what was a rebuilding year for the San Antonio Spurs, this young team finished it off by defeating the Dallas Mavericks in their biggest largest of the season.

"Despite playing on the road, San Antonio jumped out to an early lead and never looked back - beating the Mavericks 138-117."

2. ZACH COLLINS NAMED NEXT SEASON'S STARTING CENTER

"Collins has come into his own in his sixth go-round in the league. After making a name for himself as a floor-spacing center with great instincts around the rim on both sides of the ball while a Portland Trail Blazer, Collins has had a career campaign thus far in San Antonio."

3. KYLE ANDERSON VS. RUDY GOBERT

"After this Sunday event, its possible the Timberwolves could be without star center Gobert for the team's play-in game as during this afternoon's game against the Pelicans. Gobert got into it with former Spurs fan favorite Kyle Anderson and, yeah, even threw a punch."

4. ROCKETS PART WAYS WITH SILAS; PISTONS' CASEY MOVING TO FRONT OFFICE

The Houston Rockets are making a change with their head coach, parting ways with Stephen Silas after three seasons with the team, according to The Athletic.

Silas went 59-177 in his tenure with the Rockets and Houston was in the bottom three in the NBA standings in each season with the longtime assistant at the helm.

The Detroit Pistons are also making a change as Dwane Casey announced he would not return to the team as the head coach.

Casey held a losing record in each of his four seasons with the team.

5. NBA DRAFT LOTTERY COUNTDOWN

The Spurs are 36 days away from the NBA Draft Lottery, where it will be revealed if San Antonio will have the opportunity to take Victor Wembanyama with the No. 1 overall pick.
