Victor Wembanyama Makes History as Spurs Beat Raptors

Victor Wembanyama recorded his second career triple-double as the San Antonio Spurs beat the Toronto Raptors.

The San Antonio Spurs looked like the better team as they went to Scotiabank Arena and beat the Toronto Raptors, 122-99.

Devin Vassell helped lead the way for the Spurs, scoring 25 points. He couldn't miss from deep, going five-for-seven from distance. The Raptors never kept the game close but were led by Gradey Dick. The rookie had a solid night, shooting four-of-five from deep.

Despite his performance, Dick was far from having the best game by a rookie in the matchup.

Victor Wembanyama continued to amaze, recording his second career triple-double. The first one came on January 7 against the Detroit Pistons, when he recorded a traditional one based on assists, rebounds, and points. Wembanyama only recorded five assists against Toronto but added 27 points, 14 rebounds, and an insane 10 blocks.

The NBA hasn't seen a triple-double with blocks since 2018 when Anthony Davis achieved the feat.

While Wembanyama certainly deserves his flowers, the last few games have been all about Vassell, who is averaging 22.6 points on 41.1 percent shooting from deep in the last five matchups. The fourth-year wing has showcased his offensive prowess this season and is certainly one of the league's brightest young players and easily one of the most underrated.

Zach Collins continued to struggle, scoring only two points before garbage time. He would finish with only six points but managed to dish out three assists.

The Spurs broke a seven-game losing streak, winning their first game since January 27. As a team, the Spurs managed turnovers, only losing the ball 17 times compared to forcing 19 turnovers.

The Spurs will next play on Wednesday, returning to Texas as they take on the Dallas Mavericks at the American Airlines Center.
