Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Marcedes Lewis will miss six to eight weeks with a high ankle sprain, the team announced Monday. Lewis suffered the injury Sunday against the Washington Redskins.

Lewis was injured in Sunday's loss to Washington. He caught a 62-yard touchdown pass before he was injured.
Lewis has spent his entire nine-year career with the Jaguars. He missed four games last season with a calf injury.

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Lewis "could be a candidate" to be placed on injured reserve with the designation to return. Being placed on short-term IR would mean Lewis would have to miss at least eight weeks.
