It’s no secret that Zach Wilson has struggled mightily to start his NFL career. But if his play keeps up, he will make history for all the wrong reasons.

At the end of the 2022 season, Wilson became the first player since the NFL merger to record the worst passer rating in the NFL two years in a row. Now, after Week 3 of the 2023 season, Wilson is once again at the bottom of the league in that category.

Wilson was selected with the No. 2 pick in the 2021 NFL draft to be New York’s savior, but he finished his rookie year with just a 69.1 passer rating, the worst in the NFL, and in 2022, he ended the campaign with a 72.8 passer rating to once again register the worst mark among qualified quarterbacks.

Due to Wilson’s struggles, the Jets made a blockbuster trade for Aaron Rodgers. But catastrophe struck in Week 1 and Rodgers tore his left Achilles tendon on his fourth snap as a Jet, leaving Wilson to take the helm.

As a result, the Super Bowl-hopeful squad is now 1–2, and Wilson is at the bottom the leaderboard yet again with a 57.0 rating rating. At this rate, he could have the worst three-year stretch by a quarterback in NFL history.
