Devonta Smith Offers Seven Words of Blunt Advice for New Eagles OC Kellen Moore
The Philadelphia Eagles failed to fulfill expectations after appearing in the Super Bowl last season and storming out to a 10–1 start to the ’23 season. But the team finished 11–6 as the No. 5 seed in the NFC and lost in the wild-card playoff round to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
That led fans and media to question whether or not the Eagles would make a coaching change for the 2024 campaign. However, Nick Sirianni will return and has made changes to his staff to avoid another disappointing turn. Veteran coach Vic Fangio takes over a defense that underperformed, and Kellen Moore will oversee the offense.
Both new coordinators likely will receive plenty of suggestions for how to best utilize the talent already in place. However, one of the Eagles’ top receivers has rather simple advice for Moore as he begins to implement schemes for an offense that ranked seventh in the NFL in points and eighth in offensive yardage this season.
“Just let us do what we do,” Devonta Smith said during an appearance on FanDuel TV’s Up & Adams. “Just give us the ball.”
That’s not a bad suggestion from Smith, who caught 81 passes for 1,066 yards and seven touchdowns. Teammate A.J. Brown arguably had the best season of his career with 106 receptions for 1,456 yards and seven scores.
Perhaps Moore can help improve Philadelphia’s point production. The offense scored 433 points, averaging 25.5 per game. Putting more points on the board, in addition to boosting the rushing attack, could be Moore’s two biggest projects for the 2024 season.
