The San Francisco 49ers have so many players who fans love, including Christian McCaffreyDeebo SamuelGeorge Kittle and Fred Warner. However, that doesn’t necessarily make them a likable team, and one NFL analyst believes they are unlikable for a very specific reason.

CBS Sports analyst Ross Tucker explained why he believes the 49ers aren’t as appealing to fans as they could be.

“The 49ers could be a really likable team if they would just stop complaining all the time,” Tucker said during a Thursday interview with Bay Area radio station 95.7 The Game.

Tucker then went through all the reasons why the 49ers rub him the wrong way, including complaints about two of their biggest games since 2020.

“First of all, all you heard from any Niner all offseason—every Niner player or fan—was the only reason they lost to the Eagles was because both quarterbacks got hurt,” Tucker said.

“And then the next thing we have, last week, they asked (Nick) Bosa his impression of the Chiefs’ offensive line, and he was like, ‘They hold a lot.’ Then, they asked Jed York what he remembered from the Super Bowl four years ago. ‘I remember Nick Bosa being held on 3rd-and-15.’ They’re always whining and complaining about something.”

Super Bowl LVIII is still two days away, but Tucker seems to believe San Francisco is laying the groundwork for excuses. The 49ers already have complained about their insufficient practice field and a false fire alarm in their hotel on Thursday morning.

“Now, this week, what do we have? ‘The practice field isn’t good enough.’ It’s the Super Bowl; you’re barely practicing anyway—they’re doing like a walk-through. Give me a break. And today, now they have the alarm pulled,” Tucker added. “The Thursday alarm pull, that changes everything. At least now they have their built-in excuse.”

The 49ers and Chiefs will kick off the Big Game at 6:30 p.m. ET Sunday at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
