Bengals Select Tight End Michael Mayer In Daniel Jeremiah's Mock Draft 2.0
CINCINNATI — The Bengals have both of their top tight ends up for new contracts this offseason. That fact played a role in Daniel Jeremiah's second mock draft for NFL.com.
Cincinnati selected Notre Dame tight end and Northern Kentucky native Michael Mayer with the 28th pick.
"With Hayden Hurst heading for free agency, Mayer can step right into the lineup and win contested catches for the Bengals," Jeremiah wrote.
The 6-foot-5, 265-pound Mayer posted 67 catches for nine touchdowns in 2022. Those numbers are more impressive when factoring in the Fighting Irish's questionable quarterback situation.
Cincinnati has been mock-drafting a bevy of tight ends with this pick, including Dalton Kincaid and Mayer. Kincaid has been mocked to the Queen City most often in the past week (12% of mocks).
