Chase Brown on Waiting to Get Drafted: 'It All Paid Off'

Cincinnati added some juice to its backfield this past weekend.

CINCINNATI — Chase Brown just had a life-changing weekend as a fifth-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

The new Bengals running back caught up with The 33rd Team and described how he felt when the call came from head coach Zac Taylor.

"After Friday night, I was stressed, I couldn't sleep," Brown said about getting passed over in the first three rounds. "I waited about 100 picks later until I got selected, but it all paid off. It doesn't really matter where you go. It's all about what you do once you get there. I'm just grateful for this opportunity. Just excited that I'm going to a great football team that has great ownership, great coaches, great players. And, you know, I'm just trying to add to the culture and what they already have going on there. They're (headed) in the right direction and honored to be a part of it."

Brown ran for 1,643 yards and 10 touchdowns last season. He also had 27 receptions for 240 yards and 3 scores.

Cincinnati took him as another candidate to protect Joe Burrow on passing downs and help him out of the backfield as a receiver. 

He could have a similar impact to what Gio Bernard brought to the team last decade.
