Chris Long on Joe Burrow: 'Perfect Marriage' of Technique 'And That Dog'
CINCINNATI — Former NFL defensive end Chris Long welcomed quarterback coach Jordan Palmer onto the Green Light Podcast this week and discussed one of Palmer's clients, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow.
Long claims he's one of the first to compare the MVP finalist to Tom Brady.
"When he first came out, I was one of the first people to say this, and people called me crazy. He reminds me of Tom Brady," Long said. "Watching Tom Brady move in the pocket, and there's no wasted movement he's always in a position of strength, and Joe's athletic as f***. Like he can get out and run. ... These subtle shifts and like his eyes are always downfield. It's like watching a magician work back there. Everything he does, there's no wasted movement."
Long is a former top-three pick by the Rams and logged 70 career sacks.
Burrow's fundamentals have provided one of the highest QB floors in the NFL all while his gamer mentality maintains a high ceiling.
"He's the perfect marriage of like perfect technique, but also just he's got that dog," Long concluded.
Cincinnati and Burrow are hoping that mixture produces a Super Bowl title in the coming years.
