Sam Hubbard on Departing Bengals Defenders: 'Got Great Opportunities' Team Has 'Great Guys Coming Up Behind Us'
CINCINNATI — Sam Hubbard is back in Cincinnati for the Bengals' offseason program and he chatted with the media on Monday about losing key players like Jessie Bates and adding players like Orlando Brown Jr.
Hubbard wishes his old teammates all the best in their new homes across the league.
"It's a tough loss," Hubbard said about losing Bates and Vonn Bell. "No doubt those guys were special players, special teammates, still good friends, and I wish them all the best. They got great opportunities, but we got some great guys coming up behind us, and I'm excited to get to know them during this off-season program and spend some time with them."
Few people have more years of playing experience against Brown than Hubbard, who clashed with him while the two were in college.
"We've been playing each other since Ohio State-Oklahoma," Hubbard said about Brown. "I think we got a mutual respect for each other and it's going to be great to have that dominant presence on the offensive line. Because I've seen it for years how he plays. I personally have a lot of respect for him. And I'm excited to work against him."
Those two should have their fair share of battles in practice over the next few seasons.
