Chidobe Awuzie Discusses Return From Injury: 'If I Feel Good, I'll Play'
CINCINNATI — Chidobe Awuzie moved up a few more notches on the return ladder in recent days by playing in 7-on-7 drills and then a small part of 11-on-11 action during Monday's session.
The Bengals' top cornerback tore his right ACL last Halloween against Cleveland.
"I'm not sure exactly the plan wise," Awuzie said to the media on Monday. "I do know myself and if I feel like myself I don't think I need too much. As long as I'm on track to play, if that's the goal to play, then if I feel good I'll play."
Awuzie is the lynchpin of a tweaked secondary with multiple new starters after Vonn Bell, Jessie Bates III, and Eli Apple left the team. He described fighting through injury during the 2021 season before the 41-21 win over Baltimore.
He missed the Broncos contest with a foot issue and got cleared the following game day to face the Ravens.
"I have the ability, as long as I feel like myself, to go out there and cover," Awuzie concluded. "If that's what I feel like, then I'll play."
