CINCINNATI — Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins was on the field for team drills on Monday, but that hasn't been the case throughout training camp.

The 24-year-old says it's all part of the plan as he prepares for his fourth NFL season.

"Just precaution. Being able to take some team reps off," Higgins said after practice. "Actually being in there doing everything with the guys feels good."

Higgins suffered an injury scare toward the end of Monday's session. He jumped to catch a pass on the sidelines against Cam Taylor-Britt and came down awkwardly. Safety Nick Scott ran into him by accident and landed on top of Higgins.

"Nothing too major. Just came down awkward on my leg," he said.

Higgins is entering the last year of his rookie contract. The Bengals are hoping to get an extension done with him between now and the start of the regular season.

"He’s doing great," Zac Taylor said swiftly when asked about Higgins.

It would be shocking to see him play in the preseason, especially since it sounds like he'll continue to be limited in team drills for the rest of training camp.
