Ja'Marr Chase on Joe Burrow Playing to Start Season: ‘We're Good’ if Quarterback Returns by Week 5

Chase expanded on the bigger picture with NFL Network.

CINCINNATI — Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase discussed Joe Burrow's calf injury with NFL Network on Friday, telling Andrew Siciliano that he doesn't necessarily "want" Burrow to return for Week 1.

"I told him in all honestly—I don't want him there," Chase said. "Same thing with me last year. You know, what I'm saying. I sat out an extra game just to let my hip heal all the way up and, you know, you don't want to cause no other problems later on in the season. And I told him as long as you're there Week 5 and on, you know, we're good brother."

Chase concluded by saying Burrow doesn't know when he'll be back.

They've combined for 2,476 yards over the past two seasons.
