Jonah Williams on His Future, Season at Right Tackle: 'Hope That Helps my Value in Some Way'

Cincinnati has not locked in Williams for any future seasons.
In this story:

CINCINNATI — The Bengals' opening draft pick of the Zac Taylor era is entering free agency as Jonah Williams wraps up his first season playing right tackle in the NFL.

Williams is mostly focused on family time first and his next NFL home second as the offseason ramps up.

"We're only a couple hours after the last game," Williams said about his future on Monday. "So I haven't had a ton of time to think about it. What I'm really thinking about now is being able to go spend some more time with my family, and spend more time with my daughter. It's always hard to miss bath time or something like that when we're on the road traveling, so not gonna miss a lot of those going forward here in the next couple of months. So that's kind of the most pressing thing on my mind."

The left tackle turned right tackle finished the campaign with a 59.1 overall PFF grade, good for 82nd among all NFL offensive tackles.

He's one of a few players Cincinnati has to let go or re-sign. Williams was proud of how he handled and attacked the position change this season.

"As you guys can tell from my answers, I'm a very small-picture guy," Williams said. "I don't like to think about the big picture. I feel like there's too many variables in that. I like to distill everything down to what I can do every day. And what I could do this year was to show up and play right tackle at a high level. And that's what I dedicated myself to and I think I did a good job of that. I hope that helps my value in some way, but that wasn't what I was trying to do going in."
