Zac Taylor Excited to See Full-Offseason Joe Burrow, Comments on Starters Playing During Preseason

Cincinnati's top player has not had a normal offseason/training camp in his career.

CINCINNATI — Bengals head coach Zac Taylor almost did a double take when he recalled that this is Joe Burrow's first time entering a normal training camp scenario off a ho-hum offseason in his NFL career.

The Bengals quarterback dealt with COVID restrictions in his rookie year, a torn ACL rehab the next year, and appendicitis before the 2022 season.

"It is crazy," Taylor said. "I have to remind myself of that, you know, as you watch old training camp tape early, just to remind yourself of some things. He's not on tape. Last year, coming off COVID, So it's different. I'm sure he's looking forward to getting all of training camp."

In the same breath, Taylor did not rule out playing the starters at some point during the preseason. Burrow did get in for a few plays in 2021 but did not participate last preseason.

"Joe Burrow not playing affects a lot of different players at different positions," Taylor said. "So this year, we'll continue to see how that goes but wouldn't take off the table our guys getting some reps in at least one of these games."
