La'el Collins Back in Cincinnati, Training Before Start of Bengals Training Camp

Collins suffered a torn ACL on Christmas Eve against the Patriots.
In this story:

CINCINNATI — Bengals veterans don't have to report for training camp until July 26, but tackle La'el Collins is already in Cincinnati.

The 29-year is rehabbing his surgically repaired left knee. He underwent knee reconstruction surgery in January after suffering a torn left ACL and PCL against the Patriots on Christmas Eve.

Collins started all 15 games for the Bengals at right tackle before suffering the injury. He'll battle with Jonah Williams and Jackson Carman for the starting job in training camp, assuming he's healthy and close to 100%.

"That's all up to the main upstairs. I'm going to leave that in his hands," Collins said in April when asked about a potential Week 1 return. "I just know that each and every day I wake up, I feel stronger and I'm doing something that I wasn't doing the day before. I will say this, at the end of my workout last week, I was able to take some pass sets. That felt good."

Collins could also start the season on the PUP (Physically Unable to Perform) list. That could make sense, especially if Williams shows that he can be a quality starting right tackle.
