Jonah Williams Dives Into Reason For Offseason Frustration: 'I'm Fired up' to Play Right Tackle
CINCINNATI — Jonah Williams is back in Cincinnati for mandatory minicamp and cleared the air regarding his offseason frustrations with one big issue: lack of communication from the front office.
Williams was never against switching to right tackle, but more so annoyed with how he wasn't told what the plan was regarding Orlando Brown Jr. and his signing.
"In my mind, I was like, 'Okay, I'm gonna go out to California, rehab, my knee, have my baby girl,' and you know, come back and play," Williams said on Tuesday. "So that's the presumption I was working under. The main issue for me was the way that I found out, and the way that communication happened.
"Because I'm sitting on my couch you know, my fiance is 40 Weeks pregnant. Her due date was I want to say like three days (away) and you know, I'm rehabbing my knee and all that stuff. And, you know, I found out that we signed Orlando on my phone on Apple News, and actually had a teammate text me before and he was like, 'Hey, have the Bengals talked to you, and I was like, No, have a good one.' You know, I didn't know what he meant. And so I found out on Apple News."

Williams confirmed he is tracking towards full health ahead of training camp as the Bengals look to field their best offensive line this decade.
All in all, he's fired up to up the competition level and be the best right tackle can be.
"There's 64 tackles spots in the league," Williams continued. "To have any of them is a crazy amazing opportunity. And I'm super grateful, you know, for the chance. So, you know, the plan is to play me at right tackle.
"I'm fired up to do it. Let's go, like I'm working my knee. I think I'm gonna be cleared soon. I feel great moving around and so that was never the issue. I know that's kind of how it was made out to be. And it was never like a personal thing. I love all my teammates, love all my coaches, love the team, city, and fans the last couple years have just been amazing. You know, for me personally and for the city."
The Bengals' 2019 first-round pick is saying all the right things as he enters a contract season with extra motivation as a father and transitioning right tackle.
