ESPN's Dan Orlovsky Ranks New York Jets Ahead of Bengals in AFC Hierarchy
CINCINNATI — ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky thinks two AFC East teams have the best chance to topple the Chiefs as AFC Champions, not the Bengals.
The Jets and Bills are his top contenders behind Kansas City. Orlovsky noted the Jets' defense as the tipping point.
"I think the Jets are in like this very unique space," Orlovsky said on Get Up. "There's two teams that I think are the most equipped to beat Kansas City because that's what the season is about. One is Buffalo. Everyone keeps sleeping on Buffalo. And then No. 2 are the New York Jets. Those are 1-2 to go knock off Kansas City and get back to the Super Bowl.
"And I think also, here's my pushback on Cincinnati in a second. I think this is the best defense Aaron's (Rodgers) ever played with, and he played with one really, really good defense in Green Bay, in like 2010 I think. They won the Super Bowl. This will be the best defense he's played with. Energized, offended, and talented. This is a team that could beat the Kansas City Chiefs."
Orlovsky thinks the Bengals are contenders but is not convinced their defense will be as reliable as New York's.
"Cincy right there but wanna see who plays RT and how the new safeties are playing in a very complicated defense," the analyst tweeted.
Oddsmakers disagree with Orlovsky. Cincinnati (+500) has the third-best odds on Fanduel Sportsbook to win the AFC behind Kansas City (+350), and Buffalo (+450). New York is fourth, with nearly double the Bengals' odds (+900).
