Dave Lapham and Dan Hoard Make Bengals First Round Predictions For 2023 NFL Draft

Cincinnati has the 28th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
In this story:

CINCINNATI — Who will the Bengals take in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft on Thursday night?

One of my annual traditions during draft week is listening to Dan Hoard and Dave Lapham on the Bengals Booth Podcast. They share plenty of insight, opinions and thoughts about Cincinnati's possibilities—not just in round one, but throughout the draft.

Their predictions are usually spot on and even in years they're wrong, their insight is a must-listen for all Bengals fans or draft die hards.

Lapham ultimately picked a guy we've talked about plenty on this site, Cincinnati Bengals Talk and the Locked on Bengals podcast.

"Cornerback Emmanuel Forbes," Lapham said when making his round one prediction. "I'm not sure he'll be there. If he is, I think they take him, unless there's somebody else that slid. But Emmanuel Forbes and like I said earlier if he's not [available], my backup guy is Lukas Van Ness.

"I think one of those two guys could really, really help this football team. I'm all-in on those guys."

The Bengals met with Forbes multiple times during the pre-draft process. He's a playmaker at cornerback, hauling in 14 interceptions over three seasons and returning six of them for touchdowns (tied FBS record).

If he's available at 28, he could certainly be at the top of the Bengals' draft board.

Hoard also believes the Bengals with address their secondary, but doesn't think Forbes will make it to pick 28.

"I am going to stick with the cornerback position," Hoard said. "I have landed on Georgia's Kelee Ringo as my pick with the 28th pick in the draft."

Ringo (36th) is right behind Forbes (35th) on Dane Brugler's big board. He has ideal size (6-2, 209 pounds), athleticism (4.36 40-yard dash) and is only 20-years-old.

I encourage you to listen to the entire podcast below. Hoard will be posting episodes on all three days of the draft with insight on every Bengals' selection.
