Bengals Release Michael Jordan as They Begin to Trim Their Roster to 53 Players

The 23-year-old will get a fresh start elsewhere.

CINCINNATI — The Bengals released former starting guard Michael Jordan on Tuesday according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. The 23-year-old is entering his third NFL season.

Jordan was getting first-team reps at the beginning of camp, but Xavier Su'a-Filo and Jackson Carman passed him on the depth chart.

“Consistency. I think that’s the key term with all of the interior players," head coach Zac Taylor said when asked about Jordan on Sunday. "That’s why you see the veterans get the latest stab at it, because they’ve been more consistent. We’ve got guys with a lot of talent and a lot of potential, but it’s the consistency that we’re really looking for."

The Bengals drafted Jordan in the fourth-round (136th overall) in the 2019 NFL Draft. He started 27 games in two seasons.

Look for Urban Meyer and the Jacksonville Jaguars to put in a waiver claim on him. Meyer coached Jordan for two years at Ohio State.
