Dan Pitcher: Joe Burrow Was Big Factor in Decision to Stay With Bengals: 'They Don't Make Many Like Him'

The Bengals officially introduced Pitcher as their offensive coordinator on Thursday morning.

CINCINNATI — The Bengals officially introduced Dan Pitcher as their offensive coordinator on Thursday morning. 

"This feels like home," Pitcher said. 

The 37-year-old has been on Zac Taylor's staff since 2019 and a member of the Bengals organization since 2016. 

The Raiders, Saints and Patriots were also interested in hiring Pitcher to be their offensive coordinator. Joe Burrow was a big factor in his decision to stay in Cincinnati. 

"It's huge," Pitcher said. "There are a lot of people in this profession that I respect who have great perspective who have reached out to me and almost to a person their advice is, 'When you have an elite quarterback you hang on as long as you can,' and we have that here. Not only is he an elite player, but I've gotten to know him so well as a person. He's a special person."

Burrow praised Pitcher as well and was clearly excited about the hire.

"I wouldn't be the player I am today without him," Burrow said in a statement. 

Pitcher has been the Bengals quarterbacks coach since 2020—the same year Burrow was drafted. 

"It's nice to see. I knew that he felt that way. I love Joe. We've been tied at the hip from the moment he came into this building. I couldn't ask for a more ideal situation," Pitcher said. "He's different. They don't make many like him, and to get to continue working with him day in and day out, knowing that we have a guy that can win us a World Championship it's hard to put a price in that." 

The Bengals are hoping that Pitcher can help take their offense to new heights. 

Taylor, Burrow and the rest of the organization is on board.
