Minnesota Vikings Fire Head Coach Mike Zimmer and General Manager Rick Spielman

The Vikings fired head coach Mike Zimmer and general manager Rick Spielman according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. 

Zimmer is 72-56-1 as head coach of the Vikings. They finished 8-9 this season.  

Minnesota has missed the playoffs five times in the past eight seasons. Zimmer and Spielman did help lead the Vikings to the NFC Championship Game in 2017, but the organization is going to go in another direction.

Zimmer served as the Bengals' defensive coordinator from 2008-13. His defense helped Cincinnati make the postseason in four of his six seasons. 

Spielman spent 16 seasons in Minnesota.
