'Mounting Chatter' That Deshaun Watson Could be Traded Before Start of Regular Season

The three-time Pro Bowler could be dealt this week.

It's no secret that Deshaun Watson wants out of Houston. The three-time Pro Bowler may get his wish according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. 

"Multiple executives from teams not directly involved in the discussions tell PFT that there’s mounting chatter that Watson will be traded in the coming days," Florio wrote. "The two finalists are believed to be the Panthers and the Dolphins. (The Broncos and Eagles also had been linked to Watson.) If it happens, it would turn things upside down for whichever team gets Watson."

Past reports have said the Texans were looking for three first round picks in a potential trade. That seems unlikely, but Houston could decide to move on from him and start fresh before the 2021 regular season begins. 

Watson may be unhappy in Houston, but if a team trades for him, they're going to have to do their due diligence on the serious accusations the star quarterback faces.

He is currently facing civil lawsuits accusing him of sexual misconduct against 22 women. The NFL didn't put Watson on the commissioner’s exempt list prior to the start of training camp.

The lawsuits could drive down his trade value at minimum, but the fact that he wasn't placed on the exempt list (yet), is a good sign for the Texans, who obviously want to get as much as possible in a potential trade. No criminal charges have been filed.
