Zac Taylor on Bengals Star Receiver: 'Hard to Imagine Life Without Tee Higgins'

The 24-year-old is scheduled to become a free agent in March.

CINCINNATI — Has Tee Higgins played his last snap as a member of the Cincinnati Bengals organization?

The 24-year-old wide receiver is scheduled to become a free agent in March. Cincinnati could sign him to a contract extension or place the franchise tag on him, which would essentially be a one-year, $21.7 million deal. It would also give the Bengals more time to negotiate a long-term contact.

Joe Burrow made it clear that he expects Higgins to return. Even head coach Zac Taylor admitted it's hard to fathom Higgins playing for a different team next season.

"It's hard to imagine life without Tee Higgins," Taylor said. "Those are all conversations we'll continue to have upstairs. Tee and I talked and I have no information on that. Those are things that evolve. That's what the next two months are for to get a chance to go in depth with the roster and survey the future. I'm not trying to angle this any which way. That's what we do and that's Duke (Tobin) and all of them have been working on endlessly while we're in season. Then I get caught up to speed and have those conversations. Tee is a big part of what we're doing and it would be hard for him to imagine not being here."

Higgins battled injuries this season, finishing with career-lows in receptions (42), yards (656) and receiving touchdowns (5). Despite the injuries, he remains a big part of the Bengals' offense.
