Should Bills Sign OBJ, Keenan Allen to Address WR Needs?

After another disappointing postseason exit, getting more pass-catching weapons could help the Buffalo Bills and Josh Allen immensely.

In March 2020, the Buffalo Bills pushed all their chips to the middle of the table when they traded a first-round pick to the Minnesota Vikings fo receiver Stefon Diggs.

Could another move for a receiver be what gets the Bills over their championship hump?

Adding another pass-catcher should be near the top of what Buffalo needs to address this offseason. Diggs isn’t getting any younger, while Gabe Davis and Isaiah McKenzie have been inconsistent.

One potential move the Bills could revisit is signing Odell Beckham Jr., who was linked to Buffalo, the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys during the season but remains a free agent. With a full offseason to prepare after recovering from a torn ACL, he could make an impact similar to the one he had on the Los Angeles Rams when they won the Super Bowl in 2022.

Another name that could become a free agent is Los Angeles Chargers receiveer Keenan Allen. With LA projected to be around $23 million over the cap, The Athletic reported that Allen could get cut.

Despite only appearing in 11 games, Allen had 66 catches for 752 yards and four touchdowns. He has had at least 100 catches and 1,000 yards in four of his last six seasons.

Should Buffalo opt for the trade route, DeAndre Hopkins and Brandin Cooks are two other names they could target. Both players appear to be on their way out the door after a frustrating 2022 season.

Hopkins only played in nine games but still racked up 64 catches for 717 yards and three touchdowns. Cooks had 57 catches for 699 yards and three touchdowns in 13 games.

Or Buffalo could opt for the draft. Names like Jordan Addison, Jaxon Smith-Njigba or Parker Washington may be within striking distance when Buffalo picks in the first round.

Whether Buffalo opts for free agency, a trade, or the draft, another weapon that can ease the burden on Josh Allen has to be addressed at some point this offseason.
