Bills Want Trade for Packers RB, Cook, Cowboys' Elliott on Radar?

As training camp commences, the Buffalo Bills are reportedly interested in adding a running back such as A.J. Dillon, Dalvin Cook or Ezekiel Elliott.

If the Buffalo Bills don't find a way to sign free-agent running back Dalvin Cook, they could be cooking up a Plan B. According to a new report, the Bills are kicking the tires on a potential trade for Green Bay Packers' running back A.J. Dillon.

It would make sense for the team to looking to upgrade its backfield. Geared for another playoff push and hopefully a Super Bowl run, the offense features elite players at quarterback (Josh Allen), receiver (Stefon Diggs) and tight end (Dawson Knox). But its running backs - Damien Harris, Latavius Murray, James Cook and Nyheim Hines - recently received one of the lowest group grades in the NFL by the Madden 24 video game.

None of the players graded more than a 79, well behind leaders Nick Chubb (Browns) at 97 and Christian McCaffrey (49ers) at 96. Collectively, the Bills' backs rank 28th according to Madden.

Enter Dillon? His contract expires after the season in Green Bay, and the Packers are committed to Aaron Jones as their feature back. However, Jones' contract is also up after 2024 so the Packers must make some crucial decisions, and soon. They might be hesitant to break up a duo that has been working.

In 2021, both Dillon and Jones produced seasons of 1,000 all-purpose yards. Last season Dillon had another productive year as the backup with 976 total yards, while Jones rushed for 1,121.

Whether it's signing Cook, making a trade for Dillon or finding another free agent such as former Dallas Cowboys' veteran Ezekiel Elliott, it's clear the Bills need to add a running back as training camp begins next week.

Buffalo hasn't enjoyed a 1,000-yard rusher since LeSean McCoy in 2017.
