Bills WATCH: Is Stefon Diggs Talented Enough for the NBA?

Buffalo Bills receiver Stefon Diggs can hoop. And when he does it for all of Twitter to see, the NBA speculation arises quite quickly, though maybe it's best to pump the brakes.

Buffalo Bills receiver Stefon Diggs is coming off of his fifth straight 1,000-yard season in 2022. It'd be hard to find someone who would argue that he's clearly established himself as one of the league's top receivers at this point.

But in the long offseason, a fiery competitor like Diggs needs to keep those juices flowing. Time on the hardwood seems to have done the trick. Take a look:

However, based on the video, basketball seems like it could be more than just a hobby for the three-time Pro Bowler. But is this enough for a spot in the NBA in the very hypothetical situation that Diggs becomes a two-sport professional?

The short answer? Not to sound too harsh, but no.

At 6-0, 191 pounds, Diggs' size isn't a sole reason to eliminate the possibility, as we've plenty of players at or below this height succeed in the NBA. But Diggs would need to have excellent feel, floor vision or solid defense to make up for this.

If we're in the spirit of being overly critical, he has inconsistent footwork that wouldn't fly against the best on-ball defenders in the world.

The release on his jumper also leaves more to be desired, as he has an odd follow-through on his shooting hand and puts the ball a bit too in front of his face. However, the rotation on his shot is solid and it's clear he can shoot the rock better than your average citizen on the street.

But it's hard to ignore the fact that Diggs is playing against guys that, despite appearing to know basic fundamentals of the game, are much shorter than him and show little defensive resistance. He gets away with quite a few travels in this clip, too.

His athleticism alone and a quick first step from the triple-threat position are traits that could maybe warrant him a roster spot in a smaller league in another but even that might be pushing it. Forget about potentially playing in any of the European leagues, as many NBA players have said the competition is tougher there than in the states.

Don't get it twisted: Diggs would absolutely cook in most open gyms or local YMCAs. He clearly knows how to play.

But since the conversation of professional athletes - especially the bigger names - potentially playing two sports seems to pop up every now and then, it's certainly fun to ponder the idea.

Man ... is the offseason over already? At least the draft is around the corner. Surely it's obvious how bored we are right now.
