Bills' Stefon Diggs' Brother Trevon Urges Him To Leave Team After Hot Mic Fiasco
Buffalo Bills receiver Stefon Diggs is at the center of drama once again, although not by his own volition.
After Wednesday's post-practice press conference, a hot mic caught a Bills team reporter talking poorly about the star receiver.
“There’s no control over Stefon Diggs,” the reporter said. “Dude’s gonna do what he wants to do. He’ll look in my face and say ‘F you,’…that’s how he treats everybody.”
Maddy Glab, the reporter in question, has since posted an apology for her comments, but it seems the damage may have already been done. At least, that seems to be the case for Diggs' brother and Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs.
On Thursday, Trevon Diggs took to Twitter to share his rather extreme thoughts on the situation, even urging his brother to get out of Buffalo after the hurtful comments surfaced.
"Tuh! They turn on you so quick," Trevon Diggs tweeted. "Gotta get bro somewhere safe."
Then on Thursday evening, Stefon Diggs himself finally broke the silence on the situation. He posted a serious of tweets regarding the leaked audio, but the first one was the most revealing.
"The audio shared was very hurtful. And was insulting to my character and to how I was raised," Stefon Diggs tweeted. "I’ve always treated people how I want to be treated. I greet everyone with smiles and respect. From the people in our cafe to the people that keep our building in clean and in order."
This isn't the first time Stefon Diggs has been at the center of attention this year. In the Bills' January playoff loss against the Cincinnati Bengals, Diggs was spotted on the sideline looking visibly frustrated with quarterback Josh Allen, presumably over his lack of targets in the game. Then in June, he was mysteriously absent for the first day of mandatory minicamp. Although he returned the next day, speculation ran wild over whether or not he was unhappy in Buffalo.
Even if he is unhappy, it's going to be very tough to leave the Bills. Stefon Diggs signed a four-year, $96 million contract with the Bills last offseason, making it virtually impossible to trade him for the short-term future.
For now, though, Stefon Diggs and the Bills will look to move past their 22-16 loss to the New York Jets as they host the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday. Meanwhile, Trevon Diggs and the Cowboys coincidentally host the Jets on Sunday as well.
