'Very, Very Impressive!': Bills TE Dawson Knox Hypes Up Dalton Kincaid
Buffalo Bills tight end Dawson Knox has some high praise for his new teammate and fellow tight end Dalton Kincaid, who the team selected in the first round at No. 25 overall in last month's draft.
Over the course of OTAs, the two tight ends have had some time to get to know each other. They eventually mentioned their college careers, when Kincaid blew Knox away with one particular stat.
“He had like 16 catches in one game in college,” Knox said. “I think that was like my whole senior year. So yeah, very, very impressive.”
That game came in October, when Kincaid had 16 receptions for 234 yards and a touchdown to lead his Utah Utes over the then-undefeated USC Trojans. Meanwhile, Knox had just 15 receptions in his senior season at Ole Miss, so he isn't exaggerating at all.
Rather than fear another tight end coming in and potentially taking his snaps, Knox was excited to welcome Kincaid aboard due to the possibilities that could open up. On draft night, Knox found himself hoping that no team ahead of Buffalo would pick Kincaid before the Bills could.
“I’m going kind of in the back of my mind hoping he doesn’t get picked up so we can get him on the team and start doing some of this 12 personal stuff, like that’s gonna be really fun,” Knox said. “I think it’s gonna create some mismatches for both of us, something that we might not have had in the past. ... Anytime you can get a quarterback like Josh more weapons, you should do it.”
Knox has been the Bills' main tight end for a few seasons now, and has been pretty effective in the role. Now that he has a running mate though, the ceiling for him and the Bills' offense has risen even higher.
