Denver Broncos outside linebacker Frank Clark popped up on Wednesday's practice report as a limited participant. He was downgraded to DNP (Did Not Practice) on Thursday. And, now, he's unlikely to play Sunday.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Clark suffered a hip injury in practice and is expected to miss "a couple weeks."

Added Rapoport: "The injury is not considered serious, but he is week-to-week."

Clark, 30, joined the team in June following four seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs. Expected to be a rotational pass-rusher, he inked a one-year contract worth $5.51 million in guaranteed base salary. The deal includes an additional $1 million in "makeable" incentives and another $1 million in "challenging" incentives, tied to playing time and production.

Clark, though, was anything but productive in the Broncos' Week 1 loss to Las Vegas, failing to notch a sack, quarterback hit, or pressure across 25 defensive snaps.

With Clark sidelined and starting OLB Baron Browning (knee) on short-term injured reserve, Denver's EDGE room is down to Randy Gregory, Jonathon Cooper, Nik Bonitto, and undrafted rookie Thomas Incoom.

The group's next test is a Washington Commanders offense led by QB Sam Howell, who was hurried on 13% of his dropbacks in Week 1.

“It’s absolutely important," Broncos defensive coordinator Vance Joseph said of pressuring Howell. "Last week, didn’t have enough pressure on the quarterback. The third-down win percentage showed that. Obviously, getting pressure on the quarterback and getting him off his spot and winning third downs are going to be critical in this game. In last week’s game, third down is where we kind of fell off. That and penalties. Winning third downs is always going to be [important] for us. That’s our priority. Then it’s possessions, and then it’s points. That’s always going to be important for us—pressure the quarterback and win third downs.”
