Saints to Hire Former Browns DC Joe Woods

New Orleans Saints are bringing in recently fired Cleveland Browns defensive coordinator for the same position.

Joe Woods is back in the NFL coaching world rather quickly after being fired from the Cleveland Browns on Monday following week 18. Woods is expected to be the next defensive coordinator for the New Orleans Saints, per a report.

Woods reunited with Denis Allen, whom he spent time with as they both were with the Raiders organization. Woods was the defensive backs coach with the Raiders in 2014.

While in Cleveland, Woods served as the defensive coordinator for three seasons. He had his own issues with Cleveland running the defense, but he operated with a lack of personnel, specifically at defensive tackle.

With the quick hiring of Woods, Saints have to view Woods as a non-issue in Cleveland essentially. Time will tell if Allen made the right decision to add Woods so quickly.
